PSiRA is inviting students to apply for its bursary programme for the 2025 academic year.
About the PSiRA Bursary South Africa 2025
Bursaries will be awarded to students employed within the private security sector or students whose legal parent is registered with PSiRA as a security officer for undergraduate studies in any field.
The programme is open to candidates from the South African Private Security industry, aiming to create better educational opportunities for their children.
This bursary is part of PSiRA’s Corporate Social Investment (CSI) efforts to continuously support higher education and training access.
About the Bursary Provider – PSiRA
The Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSiRA) was established in 2002 with the primary goal of regulating the private security industry in South Africa.
PSiRA oversees the practices of various security-related service providers’ practices to protect public, national, and private security interests.
With a vision to enhance legitimacy in the sector, PSiRA is dedicated to transforming the private security industry. Its mission is to regulate and ensure security providers maintain professional standards and respect.
Expenses Covered By PSiRA Bursary
The bursary will cover tuition fees for 12 months up to the following amounts:
- Maximum of R25,000 (excluding VAT) per year for certificate studies at TVET institutions
- Maximum of R45,000 (excluding VAT) per year for undergraduate diploma or degree studies
Eligibility Requirements for the PSiRA Bursary
Applicants must meet the following minimum entry criteria before applying (failure to meet all requirements will result in disqualification):
- You and your parent must be South African citizens.
- You must be employed within the private security sector or have a legal parent registered with PSiRA as a security officer.
- You must be between the ages of 19 and 35 years old.
- You must have completed the Matric.
- You must intend to study full-time towards a certificate or undergraduate diploma/degree (postgraduate studies are not funded)
- You must be enrolled at an accredited and registered institution in South Africa.
How to Apply for the PSiRA Bursary
- Download and complete the PSiRA Bursary Application Form 2025 (.pdf)
Submit clear copies of the following supporting documentation along with your completed application form (failure to submit any of these documents may result in disqualification):
- Certified copy of your ID document (within the last 3 months)
- Proof of registration at an institution for 2025
- Certified copy of your parent or legal guardian’s ID document (within the previous 3 months)
- Proof of your parent or legal guardian’s PSiRA registration number
